The dragons of London

On the boundary markers in the city of London you will always find a dragon facing outwards.  Dragons have been protecting the city for quite some time, since around 1319.  The symbol comes from London's coat of arms which has two dragons holding a shield with the red cross on it. When we took our Red Bus tour of London we had a great time looking out for the dragon boundary markers (well, I did anyway...I love dragons, they are stuff of myth and legends!).  This big black beast is the gothic dragon that stands atop the Temple Bar Memorial in Fleet Street.
