I've mentioned it before, but why do they have to grow up so quickly...

I can't believe it but my girl, my little Em, has just started her last term of primary school. Where oh where did those years go? I have no idea, but what I do know is that she is about to embark on some big changes in her life over the coming year...with all that high school & hormones brings with it.

So my home inspiration at the moment comes in the form of a makeover to Em's bedroom. I'm thinking sometime over the Christmas break is the perfect time to do it and I thought it would be a great way to celebrate this momentous occasion in life! Bye bye little Em, hello big high school Em (ummm...rather large lump in my throat right now, as I type this!).

I think we need to go from my little pink princess to something much more sophisticated and stylish...and just a little bit cool! We are thinking whites, eggshell blues and greens and a splash of colour here and there with cushions, wall art, bits and pieces and of course for the designer to be (well that's the current career obsession of my 12 year old!) the all important mood board.

goodbye little girl's room, I will miss you...
and goodbye little one, I will miss you even more (ugh...there's that lump in my throat again)...but at the same time looking forward to the new year and all it brings and watching my girl blossom.

Oh my goodness I can't believe it! I'm such a head in the sand kind of girl, but I know that I have to face up to the fact that my little girl is growing up. Now I need to embrace it : ) Thanks girls. xxoo

Oh my, Alison you made me feel teary reading this post. Your Em is a gorgeous little lady and what a lovely Mama you are to be so forward thinking and sensitive to her future needs. The new room sounds delightful... and the old room is beautiful too.
The time really does fly, that's why I am trying to savour every minute while my boys are young.
Look forward to seeing the makeover once it's all complete :o) xo

Time to find the remote with the pause button. If only it were that easy :(

What a lovely idea to mark such a special occasion though. You've got some great ideas. Can't wait to see the end result.
