a little christmas sparkle, french style

i can't start putting the christmas deco's up because we have just put our house on the market (another story), so i'm just going to have to get into the spirit of things here on my little blog and what better way to kick off the season than a little reminder of how it was done french style last year...thank you matthew for snapping this one to store forever in our memory banks : )

favourites and a thought or two about life...

i'm in london still...

Looking towards Big Ben and Westminster, London May 2010, for the big 4 Oh birthday weekend (40, that is). I love this photo...it's one of my favourites. I love that big red bus in the centre of the photo and the rain on the window. Whenever we've been in London it has always rained!

Matthew is in London all week, lucky thing. I miss him when he's gone. I hate that thought of being on my own with the kids when he is away in a different country. It would be different if we were at 'home'. Then I wouldn't worry as much. I'd have my support network.

I never thought I'd spend so much time being a parent on my own. Some days its fun. The kids and I do our own thing, eat our favourite dinner 5 nights straight and watch a lot of Aussie TV over and over...Bondi Rescue being our favourite! But some days it's just not much fun at all.

I miss having my friends and family around to ''mull things over'' with. I'm having tween troubles at the moment. Ugh & Oh boy! I can only image what the teenage years are going to be like - one rocky roller coaster ride for sure. I'm sure I'll cope though. Just gotta hang on tight!

For Matthew...hope you are having a great week in London & don't forget to bring me back some real English Breakfast Tea : )

p.s. Time for some retail therapy here, that'll cheer me up!

sittin' on the dock of the bay...

Matthew is in San Francisco this week for work (lucky thing). I'd love to visit California. So instead of doing the laundry, the hoovering, making the beds and getting the groceries (blah, blah, blah), I'm sitting here dreaming of things that I would do if I were in San Francisco today...

First thing on my mind would be some sight seeing (hoping that it's not too foggy, I think its not a great time of year to be visiting San Francisco, but as I'm only dreaming...its a beautiful sunny, crisp, clear winter's day...dreaming remember)...

I'd find some lovely old Queen Anne Victorian's to drool over...

the Painted Ladies of Postcard Row

I'd take a ride on a cable car...haven't you always wanted to do that? I have...

I'd have to go and do some ''sittin' on the dock of the bay'' in the morning sun...well, you'd just have to...to watch the tide roll away and see some sea lions at Pier 39...

I'd take in some great views of the bay...

San Francisco Bay from Marin County

and take a walk over the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset holding hands with the one I love...

Then after all that sight seeing I'd stop by Macy's (I'd love to see an American department store) to find a few treasures to bring home...a cashmere sweater (on sale, yay!)...and a bottle of Dior's Escale a Portofino to take away that wintery chill...

Macy's
(in my dreams this is what I would look like today!)

Macy's

Mmmmm....feeling a bit peckish now and loving Italian, perhaps I'd head over to Quince for a little treat...

Quince

Ah well, a girl can dream.

Happy travels my love (oh and if you read this...can you take me with you next time, perhaps?!)...

This is one of my favourite photos from our summer holiday, our first evening on the cote d'azur in France.  Who would have thought we would ever be taking a summer holiday on the French Riviera? Not me, that's for sure. What a blissful 7 days of r&r we had there. Our own little piece of summer heaven. How grateful I am for such an amazing adventure. Thank you Matthew, Love you. Al xx
