One of my favourite things about living in Munich was Autumn & it's glorious colours. This was the sight that greeted us every morning when we stepped outside our apartment and looked up. Leading up to Autumn the vines were a beautiful deep lush green and then slowly turned crimson and yellow. Many of the days may have been grey and miserable, but the colours of the leaves were stunning and brightened up the whole place.

this time last year

Autumn in Europe is something wonderful. And it will be something that we miss. The colours are spectacular. The weather can be stunning with gorgeous blue skies, warm sunny days and crisp clear evenings. You know that the long dark depts of winter are just around the corner, so you start to make your home 'snuggly'.  You stock up on candles that provide a soft glow to the darker days and evenings, throw rugs on the lounge and the heaters come on. The most important thing was to make the most of that lingering daylight and soak up the warmer days. Pretty much the same as we do here in autumn, but just with a little bit of a twist. I guess it was the the thought of making the most of the season before the freezing cold winter sets in. And the winters are soooo long (something that I won't miss)!

Happy Autumn my European friends! Enjoy xx

sunsets in Munich...

As I've been wandering through blog land lately I've come across some stunning photos of sunsets in Munich. We've had the pleasure of some unseasonably warm autumn days and as a result have had some spectacular colours in the evening sky. With daylight dwindling here and the sun a rare sight in the sky, I wanted to share them and save these images so I could look back in time and remember just how beautiful this city could be.

I know we have some beautiful sunsets at home, almost on a daily basis, don't we take them for granted? When you next see one make sure you look at it and think how lucky you are.

a view from my window...

I wanted to share a view from my window today...Autumn has turned gold. I love when the colours change from the beautiful crimson reds to glorious golds.

The kids are enjoying their week off school, just hanging about having pyjama days, just relaxing - it's nice. It's blowing an absolute gale here today, so we're trying to avoid having to go out. But the grocery shopping awaits...so can't put it off too long!

Hope you're enjoying your day whether it be a sunny and warm spring one or a sunny and crisp autumn one.

munich and autumn

...another favourite munich autumn photo. matthew took this one from the Olympic park, looking back across the city and over to the mountains...I love those snow capped alps, so pretty.

so, with the countdown on for our trip home for the Christmas break, it's time to start making lists, lists and more lists. Christmas lists, that is!  I do love Christmas shopping, planning and making preparations...some people find it all so stressy, but I love it! And can't wait to start putting the Christmas decorations up...I know, I know still a while to go...but I'm going to dig them out of storage any day now!  Hmmm, now where are my Christmas CD's...

our last autumn in munich...

think autumn would have to be my favourite season in Munich. The colours are glorious and we have been lucky this week with sun every day. Even on those days when the sun doesn't show its face, the autumn colours make a grey day seem so much brighter.

These are some of the colours from around our apartment building this week. I love the way the crimson starts to creep through the summery greens...just lovely.
